About Andy
Andy is a passionate and inspirational leader who is well regarded for his vision and ability to deliver results. With natural business acumen and in-depth knowledge of technology, Andy is driving growth for Flo2Cash by focusing on internationalization, partnerships, and new products. Andy has been part of startup businesses in the past where he played a pivotal role in growing the businesses and penetrating into difficult markets.
As its CEO, Andy is leading the Flo2Cash mission of “Making Payments Simple”. With its Payments Cloud, Flo2Cash is enabling financial institutions and businesses to take that big leap forward in payments without the need to invest millions in creating stand-alone payments infrastructure and solutions.
What motivates you to do what you do?
As a principle I love keeping things simple in my life and apply same principle at work. When I look at the world around me and see how complicated some of our day to day tasks are, it inspires me to use the technology available now and in the future to make it easier for us to do our daily bits. I am motivated by simplicity and that is why we have created a mission for my company ‘Making Payments Simple’. This is what gets me out of the bed every morning and gives me a good direction to follow.
What one word best describes you?
Determined.
What is the best advice you received?
One day I was very upset about how someone reacted to me in a situation, and was planning how can I counter that person. A close senior colleague of mine mentioned that you are not acting like yourself, and he said ‘They are who they are, and you are who you are’. I always remembered that, and it helps me stay focused and not get distracted with people and situations around me.
How did your earlier career/life choices lead you to where you are now?
I was working for a large corporate, and once at airport I received a call asking if I want to come and work in New Zealand. The opportunity was to be a part of startup in a market which is competitive with incumbents around. I didn’t take that seriously at first instance, but after considering in detail that changed the direction for my life as well as career. Enjoyed every bit of it and felt fulfilled with what we achieved in a short span of time. The journey of a startup taught me how determination, team work and ‘Go for it’ attitude can have a big impact on the end result.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would that be?
I live in New Zealand and could not ask for better. Beautiful place, great weather, multi-cultural and good food. I travel a lot for work and every time I come back I fall in love with the place more than ever before.
