Payments Canada appoints Shawn Van Raay as Chief Information Officer

Payments Canada announced today the appointment of Shawn Van Raay as Chief Information Officer (CIO).

“Shawn has a profound knowledge of payments, a deep understanding of the financial and payments industries, and has been dedicated to the successful delivery and socialization of payment products throughout his career,” says John Cowan, Chief Technology Officer. “He understands Payments Canada’s vision and our objectives to make payments easier, smarter, and safer for all Canadians.”

Shawn comes from a financial institution background, most recently CIBC, where he led teams involved in high-value payments, payments data, services and infrastructure, and Everyday Payments, CIBC’s suite of payment innovations.
