MEDIA ADVISORY: Bank of Canada, Payments Canada, TMX Group and Accenture set to present initial findings of third phase experimental blockchain research project

TORONTO: May 7, 2018 - Project Jasper has made headlines since the announcement of the Canadian distributed ledger technology (blockchain) pilot by Carolyn Wilkins, Senior Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada, at the Payments Canada SUMMIT in 2016. The pilot’s initial two phases involved a variety of industry players including the Bank of Canada, Payments Canada, R3, and Canada’s seven largest commercial banks.

Late last year, Payments Canada, the Bank of Canada, TMX Group and Accenture began collaborating on Phase III of Project Jasper. This latest phase of the project experiments with an integrated securities and payment settlement platform based on distributed ledger technology. Some initial findings of Phase III will be presented at this year’s Payments Canada SUMMIT.
