Diversity, equity

and inclusion

Everyone at Payments Canada deserves to feel included, heard and respected.

We want everyone at Payments Canada to feel they can be themselves and thrive at work. That means ensuring there is an inclusive and equitable culture, built on a foundation of respect and appreciation for diversity in all forms.

Employees are encouraged to identify their membership in diversity groups, including gender, race and ethnicity, sexual orientation and disability. Payments Canada uses this information to remove any barriers that may exist in hiring, training, promoting and retaining our employees. Self-identification is voluntary and information is kept confidential.

Employees driving change

Two important groups of employees support Payments Canada leadership in meeting its DEI commitments: the Diversity, Inclusion and Wellness committee and Diversity, Inclusion and Wellness volunteers.

The committee champions and promotes diversity, inclusion and wellness initiatives across the organization, advising leadership.

The volunteer group identifies and organizes activities that are focused on educating, advocating and celebrating diversity.

Accessibility Plan

Payments Canada is committed to creating an inclusive, barrier-free and non-discriminatory work environment to ensure that all staff, including those with disabilities, can effectively and efficiently contribute their skills and experience to deliver on our mandate. Payments Canada collaborates with community partners to offer reciprocal learning and volunteering opportunities. Payments Canada is pleased to have partnerships with the following organizations that help us build a more inclusive workplace.

Inclusive payments

Financial inclusion is essential to the success of the Canadian economy, and inclusive payments and payment systems play a pivotal role. This may include an examination of initiatives that contribute to improving payment accessibility and bridging the digital divide, including accessibility features or learning more about how to ensure low income people and other vulnerable groups are fully included in the payment system.
