Day one of The 2022 Payments Canada SUMMIT kicks off with some of the biggest names in payments
Payment leaders representing diverse industry groups unite to discuss and debate the future of payments in Canada.
More than 200 speakers and over 1,800 delegates from across the payment ecosystem gathered virtually on opening day of The 2022 SUMMIT to discuss a wide range of topics central to the evolution of payments in Canada.
Day one began with welcome remarks from Tracey Black, Payments Canada’s President and Chief Executive Officer. Her remarks centered around what the payment ecosystem achieved in 2021 and the opportunities that lie ahead in 2022 and 2023 as new payment infrastructure, technology, rules and regulations are implemented. There was much excitement to hear from Abraham Tachjian, Canada's new open banking lead. In an interactive discussion with Andrew McFarlane, Payments Canada's Chief External Relations Officer, they explored open banking around the world, the timeline for adoption and the next steps to make open banking a reality in Canada.
