2020 annual report is available now

Payments Canada has published its 2020 annual report, Payments Meets Purpose. Throughout the pandemic year, our people honoured our 40-year history as they kept Canada’s national payments systems operating safely and securely, advanced efforts on both Lynx, our new high-value system, and the Real-Time Rail (RTR), and improved user experience on our Automated Clearing and Settlement System (ACSS)/United States Bulk Exchange (USBE) system. We welcomed new leaders who led the transition to working from home. The health and safety of our people remained a top priority. We introduced new mental health measures to support employee wellbeing and resilience in these unprecedented times.

In 2020, Payments Canada cleared and settled more than $107 trillion - more than $420 billion every business day. Beyond this, and like so many others, Payments Canada pivoted as we worked to keep Canadians connected and informed in a virtual environment and a rapidly changing payments world. 

Payments Canada, along with our people, members, stakeholders and partners, is delivering modernized payments systems that are safe, resilient and flexible. Our purpose supports Canada’s ability to be globally competitive in the digital payments ecosystem.
